to  represent   Joan  of  Arc...

it  was  believed  to  be  too  

warrior  in  design 

and

was  renamed  Monument de la France Renaissante. 

recast  in  bronze  and  donated to  Paris  in  1948.

moved  to  present  location on

Ile aux Cygnes island

beside  the  Pont  Bir  Hakeim 

 near the  Eiffel  Tower

in  1958
